Social Consumption Cafes Get Green Light
Massachusetts regulators finalized social consumption license types this month. Cannabis cafes and lounges could start opening as early as 2027 but towns must opt in first. Western MA municipalities haven't announced decisions yet.

Out-of-State Cannabis Crackdown
The Cannabis Control Commission is investigating inverted products, cannabis grown illegally out of state and sold in MA dispensaries. Chair Shannon O'Brien met with industry stakeholders this month to discuss new testing protocols to catch these products before they hit shelves.

$1.5M Campaign to Repeal Legal Weed
Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM), a national anti-cannabis group, has funneled $1.55 million into a Massachusetts ballot campaign to abolish recreational sales. The Coalition for a Healthy Massachusetts is pushing the measure for the 2026 ballot. Opponents warn it would hand the market back to illegal dealers. —- Outsiders are trying to overturn the will of the people.
